The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the broad area of vibrations, dynamics and controls. The appointment would be effective as early as August 2018.
We seek applicants with research and teaching interests related to vibrations, dynamics, vehicle dynamics, and controls. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an externally funded research program that includes fundamental and/or applied research. The candidate should be able to teach and develop courses in the areas of vibrations, dynamics and controls at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required with a recent record of, or strong potential for, external funding and successful teaching abilities in related courses. Previous industrial experience and/or teaching are desired. The Mechanical Engineering Department has 18 full time faculty members who are dedicated to excellence in research, teaching and service. The department hosts three centers: Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Materials, Fastening and Joining Research Institute, and the Automotive Tribology Center, all of which are active in research.
