Assistant/Associate Professor of Elementary Science Education

Job Description Summary:
The Department of Teacher Development & Educational Studies seeks to hire an advanced assistant professor or associate professor with expertise in elementary science education and teacher education. We are interested in a faculty member whose teaching practice is undergirded by contemporary research within science and elementary education; whose work demonstrates a strong commitment to social justice and diversity; and who is eager to work collaboratively within the department, across departments, and within our university-school partnerships.
Responsibilities: teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to elementary science teaching; develop new courses to advance program delivery; advise graduate students; maintain active research and publication agendas; collaborate to write grants and shape innovative programs; and provide leadership within the elementary program.
Oakland University is a nationally recognized doctoral research institution located on 1,443 acres of scenic land in the cities of Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills in Oakland County, Michigan. The University has 132 bachelor’s degree programs and 138 graduate degree and certificate programs. Academics include programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education and Human Services, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Health Sciences, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.
Candidates are expected to have: 1) an earned doctorate in teacher education or a related field, with scholarly expertise in science education; 2) successful teaching experience at the elementary level; and 3) a demonstrated record of accomplishment in scholarship.
