Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSE PRN Occupational Therapist who administers a standardized protocol and assessments to breast cancer survivors in their homes as part of a research study ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Evaluate patients' conditions and needs. Develop and implement treatment plans that aid in patients leading a more independent and active life; apply behavior change strategies and health behavior education. Educate patients, patients' family and/or caregivers on treatment plans. Document services delivered during the project using CPT codes. Participate in required training and educational activities including but not limited to: dietary and physical activity recommendations for adults; evidence-based strategies to promote habit development; and the principles of motivational interviewing. Participate in staff study meetings. Complete required research documentation: treatment session length, frequency, and content delivered.
Qualifications: EducationBachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy. Licensed as an Occupational therapist in the state of Michigan. Experience Minimum three years of full time patient care experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITILIESCommunication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally, both orally and in writing. Previous interviewing experience is highly desired. Comfortable interviewing research participants over the phone.Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Microsoft Word.Planning and Organizational Skills: Good interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to independently manage a patient caseload, including scheduling and follow up with patients as well as documenting results of patient evaluations, progress notes and discharge documentation, and communication with the primary physician and study staff. Demonstrated capacity for multi-tasking, flexibility in face of changing priorities, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Prioritize and plan work activities; adapt to changing conditions and develop strategies to achieve organizational goals.Must have own transportation with a valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.All occupational therapy services will be delivered in the patient's home. Services will be provided to research participants living in Bay, Midland, Gladwin, Arenac, Iosco, and Ogemaw counties. Travel to participants' homes will be eligible for mileage reimbursement.
