The Department of Music in the School of Music, Theatre and Dance invites applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music—Music Education position beginning August 15, 2018. Responsibilities: teach undergraduate and graduate Choral Methods, teach Introduction to Music Education, teach undergraduate and graduate course in music education for learners with exceptionalities, supervise student teachers, mentor music education students in field placements prior to student teaching, mentor graduate students in music education (practicum and research), engage in scholarly/creative activity and service in the department and university.
Preferred qualifications include: Understanding of and commitment to a constructivist vision of music education, demonstrated success teaching and directing choral ensembles, demonstrated college-level mentoring of pre-service music teachers and/or student teacher supervision, expertise in music therapy and/or music special education, an understanding of working within a collaborative environment, demonstrated ability to assist with graduate level research advising.
Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion in music education. College level teaching experience preferred.
