The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences is inviting applications for a fixed-term faculty position in Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. The position is a 1 year appointment with the academic rank of Assistant Professor. This is a full time appointment. The successful applicant will join four other full-time anesthesia faculty members, 10 licensed veterinary technicians devoted to the taching, research, and patient services missions of the anesthesia service. Department faculty also include specialists in primary care, surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care medicine, cardiology, neurology, dermatology, ophthalmology, oncology, sports medicine and rehabilitation.
The duties of the successful applicant include participation in the teaching and service missions of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Approximately 70% effort will be devoted to clinical service and instruction in the anesthesia service (large and small animal). The instructional model utilizes direct and experiential learning for preclinical and clinical veterinary students. The goals are to emphasize critical thinking, increase student autonomy, and provide hands-on experience under direct veterinary and technician supervision, aiming for a model of excellence in anesthesia and analgesia.
Doctorate -Veterinary Medicine
Minimum qualifications include a D.V.M. degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary school, completion of an ACVAA approved residency, and a valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Michigan.
