The position will work with the Academic Programs and Student Success (APSS) team to develop curricula for faculty development and conduct outcomes assessment in support of the professional programs in the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position will design and deliver curricula that supports faculty in provision of a world-class learning environment through implementation of best practices in teaching and learning. In particular, support of flipped classroom models, effective use of educational technology, and competency-based education are critical components of the current curriculum for which curricular development for faculty is needed. This position will also be expected to work with APSS Team members, university resources, and other colleges to develop resources in support of student success. This position will assist in conducting program assessments of the professional curriculum and make recommendations for evidence-based, outcomes driven methods for curricular improvement. Assist college faculty and administrators in instituting curricular improvements based on current literature, desired learning outcomes, and assessment outcomes, including activities such as: adopting student-centered learning strategies, identifying measurable learning outcomes, mapping the curriculum, and promoting the utilization of critical thinking in the curriculum. This position will design non-content based strategies and resources that support students’ development into active, lifelong learning. Collaborate with instructional design team and faculty to design, deliver, and improve curricula to support competency-based education and active learning. Collaborate with other MSU medical colleges and other colleges of veterinary medicine to ensure that MSU is implementing cutting-edge practices related to competency-based veterinary education (CBVE), faculty development, and student success. This position will serve as an ex-officio member of the College Curriculum Committee. This position will also be expected to engage in research independently or in collaboration with other faculty.
Successful candidate must have a Ph.D or Ed.D in Educational Psychology, Educational Technology, Counseling, instructional Development, or related field and at least one year of work experience in curriculum development, or related experience in teaching and learning.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing curricula for veterinary medical faculty. Experience in facilitating faculty in development of competency based educational programs, flipped classrooms and/or appropriate use of educational technology and active learning in the classroom. Experience in supporting student development as active learners
