The Education Department at the University of Michigan-Flint is seeking to fill a position of Assistant Professor In Education. We are looking for a creative, visionary, and energetic faculty member for our innovative programs in Early Childhood Education. Responsibilities will include: teaching (including teaching online, evenings, and potentially at off campus sites); collaborative program oversight; advising undergraduate and graduate students; development of clinical partnerships for field placements; supervising students in the field; research and publishing; potential oversight/serving on doctoral committees in education leadership; and service to the university, community, and the field.
Requirements include (a) earned doctorate in early childhood education or related field (candidates who are ABD with a completion by September 1, 2019 are encouraged to apply); (b) experience working with children birth to age eight and families in early childhood/care or classroom settings; (c) established or emerging research agenda in the field of early childhood; (d) knowledge of and training in theories in the field of early childhood; (e) knowledge of state and national trends and issues pertinent to early childhood education; (f) ability to create, foster, and sustain early childhood (birth through age eight) field placements; (g) demonstrated experience supervising pre-service or in-service teachers. Candidates with (1) university-level teaching experience in early childhood or a related field; (2) experience in curricular and program development for higher education (e.g. early childhood programs of study); (3) birth through grade 3 teaching experience; (4) educational certification and/or licensure valid in the United States; (5) expertise in early childhood administration, policy and leadership; and (6) expertise in other early childhood content or curricular areas relevant to the field are preferred.
