Essential Functions: The Wayne State University Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM) is seeking an experienced academic Stroke and General Rehabilitation physiatrist to add to our diverse faculty. The ideal individual should have a strong interest in teaching and a track record of scholarly productivity in stroke rehabilitation. RIM provides a state of the art environment for clinical rehabilitation of individuals with a variety of brain disorders. Research opportunities include multidisciplinary projects at our new IBIO center. Individuals interested in residency program administration or medical education as part of their career development will be encouraged and supported. May serve as medical director for our stroke program.Teach and train residents, medical students, allied health students and physician extenders.Participates in continuing medical education program in the Department.Conduct research in the area of PM&R and related disciplines and collaborate with other departments and institutes in research projects.Assist researchers, physicians and students in preparation of research proposals for submission for external grant funding. Participate in faculty committees as appropriate.Participates in meeting department fiscal and operational goals. Collaborates and cooperates with site leadership. Serves on other committees as needed.
Qualifications: M.D. or D.O. (with board certification in PM&R). Minimum of 2 years of experience in a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.Strong interest in teaching and a track record of scholarly productivity in stroke rehabilitation or related fields.Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate, and work cross-functionally to foster long-term relationships. Established record of published work.
