The Specialist Outreach, also known as Program Manager (1.0 FTE), will report directly to the Deputy Director and will be responsible for scientific and technical communications with various universities and agricultural research institutions both domestic and in our focus countries in West Africa and Central America. Working with leadership, the PM will provide oversight of technical and administrative aspects of the program.
This includes the following:
assist with the design of technical calls for proposals;
provide outreach and guide researchers designing proposals, communicating the program objectives and guidelines to potential applicants;
relate potential grants to overall program scientific approach and themes;
manage proposal development and review process, based on program objectives;
serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders as it pertains to program implementation and technical aspects of the program;
assist in the design and administration of the Innovation Lab’s Piestar online interface, identifying modifications to the needs of the new Lab, and providing direct contact with Piestar on these issues;
serve as the point of contact for Regional Coordinators, Lab/CANR Communications Teams, PIs and subawards on a day to day basis as it pertains to technical leadership and progress of research agendas;
supervise and provide direction to the Financial and Administrative Officer;
work with leadership on technical program reporting requirements and development of Program Operational Manual;
advise the Director and Deputy Director on research portfolio progress and possible modifications needed.
Masters -Agriculture/Development related
Other -Agriculture/Development related
MS or MA degree in agriculture, social science or related field
Minimum of 3 years of work experience in/with developing countries
Skills with word processing, spreadsheets and databases
Excellent communication skills (written, spoken)
Experience with supervision of staff
Availability for domestic and foreign travel
Fluent English language skills
Language proficiency in Spanish or French
