The Academic Specialist-Curriculum Development/Administrative Director of MSUCOM SE Macomb University Center site, under direction of the Associate Dean, plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day operations of the Department; monitors, implements, participates in and evaluates the delivery of the pre-clerkship curriculum and ensures quality faculty, staff and student support services by serving as a resource and referral source.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees department operations including staffing, payroll and expenditures in accordance with University, College and Department policies.
Oversees and coordinates various department activities.
Monitors, implements, oversees, and participates in the delivery of the pre-clerkship curriculum. Evaluates educational outcomes of COM pre-clerkship curriculum.
Oversees faculty, staff, and student compliance with University, College and Department policies.
Serves on College/University councils, committees, work groups, and other bodies.
Works as a liaison for the local community, the Statewide Campus System affiliated hospitals and other local educational bodies.
Develops and implements strategic planning specific to programs within the University, College and Department.
Collaborates with the Associate Dean and other College and Department entities to oversee the academic programs.
Provides direction and assistance in preparation of budget requests; monitors budgeting expenditures at all levels.
Fosters collaborative relationships across the three sites of MSUCOM, locally with leaders at Macomb University Center and COM Clinical Faculty as well as regionally with representatives from affiliated teaching hospitals.
Supervises, advises and mentors faculty, staff and students, serving as a resource and referral source for various types of assistance.
Participates in instruction and proctors exams as needed and/or assigned.
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean.
Masters -Education, Science or Healthcare related
This job requires the knowledge equivalent of what would normally be acquired by completing an advanced college degree program in education, science or a healthcare-related field;
minimum five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with related and progressively more responsible experience in management, planning, human resources, accounting, budget processes, and/or in performing responsibilities closely related to the operational activities of the employing unit.
Teaching experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred.
Excellent supervisory, organizational and training skills;
Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds;
Skills in planning, budgeting, development, implementation and execution of programs
