The Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) and the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University invites applications for tenure-system faculty positions in the area of biomedical research. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedicine or related fields, with expertise in developmental and stem cell biology. The position will be filled at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level depending on the qualifications and record of the successful candidate. The candidate is expected to establish a sustainable research program, make significant scholarly contributions to their discipline, be an effective teacher and mentor of both undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in institutional and professional service.
We at IQ are interested in developing a program for basic and translational applications with a focus on developmental and regenerative medicine. The research focus can range from gaining a deeper understanding of stem cell function or developmental biology, to the study of regenerative processes using tissue engineering, synthetic biology, cell reprogramming, genetic and biochemical approaches. An additional area of interest is developing quantitative biology methods to measure biological processes at the cellular and molecular level. Therefore we seek exceptional candidates who can develop such a program and teach classes on development, stem cell biology, cell reprogramming and related subjects. The program will be part of the division of “Developmental and Stem Cell Biology” at IQ.
The position will be housed in the new Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) and has a strong core of scientists who work collaboratively across broad disciplines including: neuroengineering, motion analytics, developmental biology, stem cell biology, systems biology, synthetic biology, regenerative medicine, chemical biology and biomedical devices.
