The High Energy Theory group at Michigan State University welcomes applications for a Research Associate (postdoctoral) position in theoretical particle physics with emphasis on precision calculations in perturbative Quantum Field Theory. Candidates with an interest in new analytical and numerical approaches to higher order loop and phase space integrals are particularly encouraged to apply. The appointment is for two years starting in the fall of 2019 or earlier.
The high energy theory group at MSU consists of eight faculty members: Martin Berz, Steve Hsu, Huey-Wen Lin, Andreas v. Manteuffel, Jon Pumplin, Wayne Repko, Carl Schmidt, Dan Stump, and C.-P. Yuan, as well as several postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.
Ongoing research encompasses perturbative precision calculations, lattice QCD, beyond-the-Standard-Model scenarios, collider phenomenology, formal aspects of Quantum Field Theory, cosmology, and beam physics. The group has close interactions with an active Michigan State HEP experimental group and has a strong participation in CTEQ - a national collaboration of theorists and experimentalists. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is well connected to the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering, which provides excellent opportunities for interactions between Physics, Mathematics and Computational Sciences.
Candidates must hold a PhD in physics or related field by the appointment start date.
