Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an experienced clinician with a commitment to medical education to serve as the Director of Clinical Clerkship Curriculum. This position will provide administrative and academic oversight to instruction within the third and fourth year of the osteopathic clerkship program. The Director of Clinical Clerkship Curriculum will serve within the Division of Medical Education as a fixed-term faculty member with the academic rank of assistant or associate professor. The position will report to the Assistant Dean for Clerkship and provide assistance with operational details for the clerkship program. Primary duties will be academic, including curriculum development and instruction, with an option for maintaining part-time clinical duties (up to 20%).
Develop and deploy instructional and assessment methods for the longitudinal clerkship didactic experiences in years 3 and 4, and integrate learning objectives with required clinical rotations, including the organized didactic components.
Assist with development and delivery of large scale learning and assessment events, including simulations, skills testing, clerkship orientation, and others.
Conduct site visits to clinical education sites to meet with students and faculty and monitor deployment of curriculum.
Promote longitudinal integration of interprofessional education and core competencies throughout the four-year curriculum, including elements of professionalism, communication, systems-based practice, prevention, ethics, and lifelong learning.
Evaluate outcomes of clerkship instruction.
Assist with tracking and reporting of compliance with accreditation standards.
Collaborate with the Director of Preclinical Skills Education and the OMM Clerkship Director to ensure continuity and best practices and to assess and track student outcomes across the four year DO curriculum.
Promote academic research and scholarly activity within the Division of Medical Education.
This position has the opportunity to be based at the East Lansing campus, Macomb University Center, or Detroit Medical Center.
Physician with an active license in State of Michigan; Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO; preferred) or Doctor of Medicine (MD). Board certified by AOA or ABMS.
