A Research Associate, postdoctoral, position is immediately available in the group of Professor John R. Dorgan in the department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Michigan State University.
The selected researcher will work to develop new biobased resin systems for use in composite materials. The successful candidate will have a strong background in experimental polymer science. Responsibilities include characterization of novel biobased polymers; reactive polymer solutions will be characterized by rheological methods. Composite test panels and prototypical parts will be fabricated using resin transfer molding (RTM) and vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) methods. Mechanical property testing will also conducted. Salary is commensurate with experience. A doctoral degree in Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required. The position is initially for one year, renewable annually based on performance and availability of funding.
Requires a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Applicants must have defended their PhD by the time of employment.
