The School of Social Work is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and results-oriented individual to serve as an Outreach Specialist with our Continuing Education team.
The MSU School of Social Work is dedicated to educating students for ethical, competent, responsive, and innovative social work practice, and to conducting and disseminating high quality research that improves the well-being of the most vulnerable in society. Our teaching, research, and outreach synergistically promote social justice, positive change, and solutions to the problems facing diverse individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. More than 650 students are enrolled in our CSWE-accredited BASW and MSW programs, and PhD program.
This position will recruit and select high-quality trainers with subject matter expertise; negotiate terms of hiring, provide CE faculty training in key areas (technology, adult learning); evaluate instructor performance and experience and provide feedback; develop educational products (i.e. curriculum) and requirements for certificate completion; identify and market to key audiences; assist with administration of grant related programming and special programming including but not limited to work with advisory groups or key stakeholders. Work with key leaders to determine budget, forecast and analyze attendance, and identify funding sources. Responsible for oversight of instructor record keeping; and communication of relevant event details to event operations and customer service staff; assist with audits and reaccreditation efforts for ASWB ACE and CSWE; engage in research and writing on best practices for social work CE instruction and other educational product development; research and recommend policy with regard to instructional resources and use of material (i.e. use of copyright).
This full-time fast-paced, creative, and self-directed position is responsible for selecting, developing, and promoting new and repeat non-credit courses, events and training for the MSU School of Social Work Continuing Education Program. This person has primary responsibility for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of face to face, online, and webinar programming. In addition, this person is responsible for assisting with post graduate certificate development and management in concert with other programs within the Office of Community Engagement. This position is accountable for managing courses for cost recovery, reviewing course proposals, recruiting instructors, and evaluating for quality and customer satisfaction. This position will also provide direct continuing education instruction.

Actively participate in assigned School committee.
Teach academic courses as assigned by the Associate Director of Instruction.
Masters -Social Work
Masters degree in Social Work, plus state of Michigan license eligible with two years post-MSW experience.
Understanding of the NASW Code of Ethics and the ability to articulate social work values; experience with regulatory compliance; knowledge of Association of Social Work Boards; Approved Continuing Education and the State of Michigan Social Work Continuing Education guidelines and requirements; experience hosting and/or providing continuing education trainings; comfortable with public speaking; proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and Zoom.
