Occupational Therapy Department Mission:
The faculty and staff of Occupational Therapy Department at the University of Michigan-Flint strive to be recognized dedicated leaders, scholars, and practitioners who are committed to learning, teaching, scholarship and service, to educate and mentor culturally competent, doctoral prepared evidence-based practitioners to be visionaries and leaders in the profession of Occupational Therapy in local and global communities.
The proposed start date for the OTD program is Fall 2019.
Duties include but not limited to:
Principal Capstone Coordinator (.3 FTE)
Ensure that there is a valid and signed memorandum of understanding for the doctoral capstone experience.
Maintain records of each students’ capstone hours and signed capstone project plan and objectives.
Documentation and verification of capstone mentors’ expertise and relevant license.
Maintain records of students’ capstone evaluations.
Capstone coordinator works with faculty mentor in selecting and contacting the potential site mentor.
Clinical Assistant Professor (.7 FTE)
Includes teaching four courses Capstone Project Design I, II, III (OTP 690. OTP 790, OTP 795) and Doctoral Certification & Introduction to Residency (OTP 870),that provide the introduction, planning and development of the capstone project which students implement during their capstone doctoral residency.
Maintains personal scholarship according to the College of Health Sciences scholarship requirements for Clinical-Track Faculty.
All CHS faculty members are expected to provide service to the University, college, department, profession and the community. Consistent with the mission of CHS and the University, professional service contributions to the Flint and regional community are valued as well as national and international contributions. Engagement in service activities at multiple levels is required. The quality and impact of service contributions is more important than the number of different service activities.
DrOT, OTD, or equivalent clinical doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or health related field awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized regional accrediting body.
2 years minimum clinical experience in assigned teaching area.
Record of involvement in AOTA and state OT associations
Licensed OT in Michigan or in a U.S. jurisdiction or is eligible for licensure in Michigan.
