Position Title: Applications Support Specialist

Position Status: Full Time
The Applications Support Specialists report to the Dental Clinic IT Director and provides support to the School of Dentistry community in the use of the electronic patient management system and related systems. In this position, the specialists will provide training, author reports, research solutions and author documentation. Working as a member of the Applications Support team, the specialists will be active in advancing the use, features and functions of the Dental Clinic IT systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(1) Train students, faculty, and staff on the use of the MiPACS Imaging system. (2) Develop documentation for the MiPACS Imaging system as a learning tool. (3) Author ad-hoc reports as required. (4) Assist the Dental Clinic IT Director in the day-to-day management of the systems. (5) Follow policies and procedures related to how problems are identified, received, documented and corrected. (6) Troubleshoot problems with the electronic patient management system and related systems. (7) Ensure customer acceptance of resolutions. (8) Communicate with vendors to resolve issues. (9) Provide support for the service center. (10) All other duties as assigned.
A college degree.
A college degree or equivalent related professional work-experience preferred.
Experience (Minimum/Preferred): Two years to five years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to work well in a team environment as well on an individual basis • Excellent problem solving skills • The ability to organize complex information into an understandable format and convey that information to people with no technical knowledge • Prior experience conducting training to small and large groups • Strong technical writing skills including technical diagramming using flowcharts, data flow diagrams and other applicable documentation methods • Experience with many diverse hardware, software and operating system environments • Professional experience in the use of Crystal Reports or other enterprise level report authoring tools • Experience with querying languages (SQL) and Oracle Databases • Willingness to learn • Strict attention to detail, responsiveness when unexpected down-time occurs and commitment to ensuring user base receives optimal uptime of computer systems • A commitment to the highest ethical standards in IT use
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.

Salary/Pay Information: Commensurate with experience.
Anticipated Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
