Essential Functions: Auditor for initial teacher certification for undergraduate, post-bachelor and master's students: Review, approve and deny applications for the Michigan Standard Teaching certificate and make recommendations to the Michigan Department of Education.Auditor for additional endorsements to Michigan Teaching Certificates: Review, approve and deny endorsement applications and make recommendations to the Michigan Department of Education. Complete Endorsement Plans of Works for teachers seeking to add an endorsement to their existing teaching certificate in the following areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Earth/Space and Physics), Social Studies (Economics, History, and Political Science), and World Languages (Arabic, French and Spanish).Pre-admission advising for graduate programs and pre-admission advising for non-teacher certification post-baccalaureate programs.Graduate Recruitment: Working with faculty Program Coordinators, create and maintain graduate program brochures, flyers and informational packets.Graduate Retention: Working with faculty Program Coordinators, create and maintain a graduate retention plan.Manage the AskCOE e-mail account and inquiries from the COE website.Assist with college and university events such as Open Houses, Resource Fairs, Commencement, etc.Serve on College and University committees, as necessary. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required.Degrees in K-12 education, student affairs, higher education or related fields.Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team setting; ability to work with faculty, administration, parents and students; sensitivity to the needs of a diverse and non-traditional student population; interpersonal/human relations skills; ability to encourage and empower students to make their own decisions; ability to act as an advocate for both the student and the university; ability to identify students' needs for support services in order to make appropriate recommendations; and ability to maintain confidentiality.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Excellent organization, technological and collaborative skills.Strong focus on detail and task completion.Work with minimal supervision.Provide own transportation to work and work-related events.Must be available to work evening and weekend hours as needed and requested.
