Essential Functions: The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a highly qualified individual to manage and lead the operation of a research laboratory within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. The successful candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator and be expected to continually update them as to the progress of work and performance of staff and trainees. Essential Functions include: Recruiting subjects for sleep research studies. Perform night sleep studies (after a sufficient training period). Instrumentation of participants for sleep studies, including screening, spirometry, PSG, and ventilation. Conduct research sleep studies. Raw data analysis and preparation for PI to investigate. Presentation of data to PI. Analysis and presentation of data to the PI and the research team. Assist with required regulatory documentation of funded studies. Presentation of data at meetings and annual conferences. Preparation of manuscripts and publication of scientific articles. Preparation and completion of IRB forms/applications to follow up on renewals of research protocols. Assisting in maintaining and purchasing necessary research equipment.
Qualifications: Master's degree in physiology, anatomy, or a related biological sciences field. 1-3 years of related experience. Ability to work 2-3 night shifts per week. Ability to write manuscripts/journal articles through final draft. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Excel/Powerpoint. Basic knowledge of statistics.
