The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the broad area of materials engineering. The appointment would be effective as early as August 2020.
We seek applicants with research and teaching interests related to materials including, but not limited to Materials Processing, Material Characterization, Polymers and Polymer Processing, Nanocomposite Materials, Computational Materials Science, and Nanomaterials. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an externally funded research program that includes fundamental and/or applied research. The candidate should be able to teach and develop courses in the area of controls at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or a closely related field is required.
The university has approximately 20,000 students and is located at the intellectual center of the global automotive industry. The surrounding area offers many social, cultural and recreational activities.
