The University of Michigan, School of Nursing is seeking a highly qualified Research Assistant Professor for a full time position with the Center for Improving Patient and Population Health (CIPPH). Applicants should have an active program of research with the potential for substantial impact in one of the following areas: older adults, patients who require complex health care interventions, rural populations, or native/indigenous populations.
CIPPH was established in 2017 in the School of Nursing to accelerate high-impact scholarship among interdisciplinary faculty in the focal areas of patients with cancer, patients with complex care needs, healthcare delivery science, and vulnerable populations. We envision a scientist to join our team to build a program of research and support existing and emerging research in the field. Priorities include a team member who can contribute substantively to competitive grant applications, assistance in the design of studies, analysis and interpretation of data, and publication of scientific papers. Experience conducting research in the health care sector is strongly preferred. Examples of expertise include, but are not limited to: secondary data analysis, survey research, qualitative inquiry, mixed methods research, intervention development and testing, and/or implementation science.
The position is anticipated to be filled during the 2019-2020 academic year. Applicants will be considered for the rank listed above, depending on experience and research productivity. A research doctorate (PhD) in the social sciences, nursing, or a related field is required.
For nursing PhD’s, a current MI nursing license is required or eligible for a nursing license in the state of Michigan.

The School will support this position fully for the initial two (2) years, with a decreasing share thereafter and the expectation that the individual selected will secure sponsored funds to maintain full-time employment. The individual is expected to submit grants as Principal Investigator, or Co-Investigator with other faculty members.
Furthermore, applicants with the strong potential for or documented evidence of extramural funding, potential for development into an independent scholar, and potential for non-didactic teaching/mentoring of fellows, and junior research colleagues or students are strongly preferred.
