The Utility Supervisor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods as well as the training and supervision of the student employees in the student utility role also performing these duties. This position also ensures the kitchen, dishwashing and bussing areas are maintained as clean, safe and sanitary facilities in support of the Heritage, and other Secchia Institute academic lab classes and banquet functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Machine and manual washing of all dishware, glassware, utensils, trays, pots and pans for the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education.
Return all cleaned equipment to its proper and designated storage space.
Cleans and maintains dish machine and pot sinks to Kent County Health Department standards for all Secchia Institute areas, as designated by the Storeroom Manager or designee.
Maintains a clean and safe work area.
Training and supervision of student employees on equipment and procedures in utility area.
Must demonstrate ability to have work completely prepared and ready at time designated by Storeroom Manager or designee.
Assist in the general kitchen and dining room sanitation and maintenance.
Must be able to work with all employees and customers in a congenial and safe manner, demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
In emergency situation, shall perform duties other than as classified.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
High School Diploma or GED required.
National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred but not required.
ServSafe Sanitation Certification preferred.
1-2 years food service utility work.
Supervision experience preferred.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals in a team environment.
Ability to meet deadlines while performing multiple tasks with minimum supervision.
Able to respond to challenges with professionalism and positivity.
Ability to respond to duties in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, unassisted, and transport to different areas of the department.
Stand for long periods of time.
Use a wide range of mobility skills.
Personal hygiene according to the Kent County Health Department standards.
