Applications are invited for a Research Associate-Fixed Term (postdoc) position in the research laboratory of Dr Federica Brandizzi, at Michigan State University, and in partnership with the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (www.glbrc.org).
The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) is a US Department of Energy (DOE)-funded Bioenergy Research Center led by the University of Wisconsin–Madison, with Michigan State University as a primary partner. We are developing sustainable biofuels and bioproducts made from dedicated energy crops grown on marginal lands. Our mission is simple: creating biofuels and bioproducts that are economically viable and environmentally sustainable.
The research project, in the Brandizzi Lab, will focus on characterizing sorghum transgenics and study the mechanisms for biomass improvement by conducting research on the sustainable prosecution of crops with desirable traits, by enhancing plant biomass deconstruction, composition, and value.
The candidate is required to have a background in plant molecular biology, biochemistry, and plant handling. The successful candidate will join a diverse and highly collaborative research team, so excellent communication skills are essential.
Doctorate -Plant-related field; Cell and Molecular
A Ph.D. or equivalent in a Plant-related field, Cell and Molecular Biology field, or other related field; experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, plant handling, good record of publications in peer-reviewed journals; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong molecular biology or plant biochemistry skills.
