Information Technology Services (ITS) at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Professional Technologist 3. The incumbent will be a member of the Banner Operations team supporting the administration of various student applications including access management and security administration for mission and business critical applications including, but not limited to, Ellucian Banner (Student Information System), Banner Document Management, Banner Workflow, Argos (Report Writing), JAMS (Workflow and Job Automation), R25 (Room Scheduling), and BlueSEI (Faculty Evaluations).
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Provide application administration, including access management and security administration, for mission and business critical applications including, but not limited to, Ellucian Banner, Banner.
Provide Document Management, Workflow, Argos, JAMS, R25, BlueSEI, CleanAddress.
Work independently with little to no supervision.
Design, evaluate, and recommend new procedures and processes to enhance service delivery or improve efficiency.
Evaluate and optimize existing procedures and processes.
Develop and maintain application documentation and diagrams.
Perform system level testing for upgrades, integrated system upgrades, and new business application deployments.
Work with vendors as needed for issue reporting and resolution.
Evaluate and recommend implementation of new application modules, features, or entirely new systems based on operational or business needs.
Work with customers to document and define business needs. Adapt business needs to technical requirements and functionality.
Work with customers to implement existing application solutions and recommend the implementation of new applications, tools, or services as necessary.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues, working with the vendor as needed to resolve issues in a timely manner. Respond to major incidents 24x7 as needed.
Functionally lead projects to implement new or upgraded applications, processes, or services.
Collaborate with other technical and business teams to successfully complete the projects.
Attend appropriate training. conferences, and seminar events to expand knowledge, track technology trends, and establish/maintain peer relationships that will improve the ability to serve the University.
Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Four (4) years of experience in the following:
Application administration and support for complex enterprise systems, including access management and security administration.
Defining, documenting, and implementing procedures and business processes for administering and supporting complex enterprise systems.
Creating and maintaining documentation of standard operating procedures, application diagrams, interfaces, major processes, etc.
Managing servers in a complex enterprise environment.
Demonstrated ability to administer servers running multiple operating systems and applicable scripting languages, e.g., PowerShell, Linux, Unix.
An intermediary understanding of Workflow technologies as used in business process management, technical process management, and job process automation.
Knowledge of Structured Query Language SQL on an Oracle database.
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team with diverse skill levels and expertise from multiple areas.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
