Primary school and departmental affiliation(s) will be determined by the applicant's qualifications and preferences, and by relevance of the applicant's research program to school and departmental initiatives and themes. Clinical time for qualified practitioners will be optional based on candidate interest. We welcome applications from outstanding scientists in any area of Concussion research complementary to existing expertise at Michigan. Neuroimaging (e.g. MRI, fNIRS, etc.), biomarkers, and clinical interventions for concussion management (e.g. physical activity, pharmacology, etc.) are of interest, but all research domains will be considered. In October 2018, the University of Michigan Biosciences Initiative (biosciences.umich.edu) provided funding establishing the Michigan Concussion Center (concussion.umich.edu). The Center’s mission is to maximize societal and individual health through the relentless pursuit of concussion knowledge. In support of this mission, the Center implements a multidisciplinary approach to answer fundamental questions about concussion prevention, identification, diagnosis, management, and outcomes.
The Concussion Center solicits applications for open rank tenure track faculty positions to engage with the Center by collaborating with existing faculty and staff. Applicants’ research should principally focus on concussion driven by the potential for or existing sustainable multidisciplinary external funding. Successful candidates may be placed in one or more of the University of Michigan’s 19 independent schools or colleges, home to 260 degree programs which place significant value on innovation and collaboration across disciplines.
