This position is in the Siteman Cancer Center. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
The Siteman Cancer Center is seeking an organized and motivated individual to join the Biologic Therapy Core Facility (BTCF). The BTCF, a shared resource of the Siteman Cancer Center, operates and maintains an FDA-registered modern cleanroom designed to manufacture custom biologics for early phase clinical trials. Successful candidates will work independently or as a member of a project team to perform complex research studies, experiments and assays. This position will serve as a critical team member responsible for implementing and sustaining research projects, and upholding the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and regulations that govern all activities within the Biologic Therapy Core Facility.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs complex analysis/projects according to research protocols, explaining methods and procedures to other technicians.
Executes technical procedures to support manufacturing of custom biologics for early phase clinical trials.
Works alongside the Principal Investigators to develop new, and improve existing, research protocols, to support project/program objectives.
Provides for data entry and current data files on research projects. Monitors data to ensure consistent quality.
Ensures laboratory activities and research protocols comply with all laboratory Quality Management System and laboratory safety objectives and procedures.
Ensures laboratory environment and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assists in training laboratory staff and/or Project Team personnel on laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with all laboratory standards.
Participates in rotating after hours “On Call” schedule to facilitate laboratory projects and operations.
Master’s degree with two years of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling seven years.
Experience in an academic/clinical laboratory or manufacturing setting that is accredited by an external governing body (i.e. CAP) and/or FDA regulated.
Experience working in a laboratory environment governed by Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and/or Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
Experience working within a cleanroom facility or other closed system laboratory environment (i.e. animal husbandry barrier facility).
Experience with aseptic technique, cell line or primary cell culture, basic molecular biology applications, ELISA, Flow Cytometry and/or other cell sorting applications.
Experience using clinical centrifuges, automated cell counters, biosafety cabinets/fume hoods, tissue culture incubators and other general laboratory equipment.
Experience writing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Experience writing Incident Reports and implementing Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) to improve laboratory protocols and/or operations.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or as an integrated member of a team.
Strong written/verbal communication skills and ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
Ability to participate in rotating after hours “On Call System” (nights/weekends/holidays) to support ongoing projects and operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) Suite.
The hiring range for this position is $17.00 - $22.96 per hour.

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear personal protective equipment and to be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
