The Division of General Pediatrics is seeking an enthusiastic, intelligent, and hardworking individual to work with Dr. Khan on grant-funded research. Her research focuses on family engagement, interprofessional collaboration, teamwork, communication, and patient safety. Currently, the principal responsibility will be to provide support for an ongoing study to engage families of hospitalized children with medical complexity in sharing hospital safety concerns using an innovative mobile safety reporting tool and safety comment card. This study, which was co-produced with parents, nurses, physicians, and hospital leaders, utilizes mixed-methods in the design and evaluation of the intervention.
The Clinical Research Specialist will assist with various study coordination and data collection tasks for this study and others.
They will be responsible for recruiting patients; administering surveys and interviews to parents, physicians, and nurses; assisting with coding and analysis of qualitative interview transcripts; maintaining REDCap databases; data entry; preparing ongoing data reports/run charts; data cleaning; grant submissions; and keeping IRB and budgetary documentation up-to-date.
They will also support manuscript submissions and other scholarship opportunities with the possibility of co-authorship. The individual should be organized, detail-oriented, thorough, responsible, self-motivated, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. This full-time position requires a 2-year commitment.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree, and a minimum three years of relevant work experience or Masters of Science and one year of relevant work experience.
The analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems.
Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills.
Effective communication skills with parents/study participants in order to explain the research protocol, to obtain informed consent, to obtain accurate information from them, and to provide them with accurate information.
