Siena Heights University in Adrian Michigan, a liberal art centered institution, is seeking to hire a full time, Engineering faculty member, rank commensurate with experience and qualifications, to begin in August 2020. We are seeking a colleague who is enthusiastic about undergraduate teaching to support our growing engineering enrollment. Beginning in Fall 2020 Siena Heights is expecting to begin a new General Engineering degree. The university currently offers an Environmental Engineering degree and also offers students the opportunity to pursue bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering in coordination with the University of North Dakota. The position is on a 9-month contract, and the course load is 12 contact hours per semester. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching 12 contact hours of course work per semester. The University will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. The ideal candidate would be able to teach foundational courses in undergraduate-level engineering. Additional responsibilities of the position include holding regularly scheduled office hours, student advising, university service, community outreach, and other duties as assigned.
Advanced degree in the field of Engineering, Engineering Education, or closely related discipline. (PhD preferred but Master’s degree will be considered). Previous college-level teaching experience. Passion and enthusiasm for teaching and working with undergraduates. Willingness to meet undergraduate students where they are and help them reach their goals. Evidence of excellent teaching ability. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and programs.
