The School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan invites applications for a new faculty position of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Full Professor. The preferred start date for this position is August 2020 or January 2021. This position is a 75% teaching and 25% administrative/service position. The typical teaching load includes three courses per semester. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the undergraduate Applied Exercise Science program in the School of Kinesiology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach exercise testing, exercise prescription for both healthy people across the lifespan and individuals with chronic disease, and exercise physiology. Other areas of instruction could include EKG interpretation, exercise pathophysiology or elective courses. Instruction of similar courses at the Master’s degree level is also possible. Administrative responsibilities may include developing relationships with regional hospital- and community-based rehabilitation facilities for the purpose of establishing and maintaining internship opportunities for our students, curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate level, or research. Engagement in departmental, university, and/or community service is expected. A competitive salary will be offered, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

PhD preferred, master’s degree considered, in kinesiology or a related field. While a doctoral degree is preferred, master’s degree-holding candidates with a particularly strong clinical background are also encouraged to apply. The Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist credential from ACSM, or the qualifications to obtain this certification, is preferred. Two or more years of teaching in higher education is highly desirable. Experience working with or in hospitals or community-based rehabilitation and fitness facilities is preferred.
