The MSU Autism Research Lab in the Department of Psychology at Michigan State University is recruiting a Research Associate - Fixed Term (postdoctoral fellow) interested in community-based intervention research with young children with ASD. We are seeking candidates with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology or related discipline. Successful applicants will have experience delivering evidenced-based assessment and intervention for toddlers and young children with ASD, coaching parents, and training community providers, and must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish and English) applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Research Associate will be involved in data collection, data analysis, authorship on manuscripts and presentations, and engagement with community partners. The Research Associate will benefit from joint mentoring from the PIs and study investigators and access to broader training opportunities in each site. They will join a collaborative research team and will have the opportunity to work in a high-quality and productive research environment. Due to the multi-PI nature of this research, the trainee will be supervised by Dr. Brooke Ingersoll (Department of Psychology, Michigan State University; Clinical Psychology), Dr. Alice Carter (UMass-Boston), Dr. Wendy Stone (University of Washington), Dr. Allison Wainer (Rush Medical College), and Dr. Sara Broder-Finger (Boston Medical Center). Weekly, cross-site meetings will occur via video teleconferencing.
Typical duties will include, but are not limited to:
Training early intervention providers (e.g., speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, developmental therapists) in RIT and parent coaching, and providing ongoing consultation and supervision as providers implement the intervention with participating families.
Disseminating research from the lab through publications and conference presentations
Assisting with project design/assessments, data analysis and interpretation, and manuscript and grant development
Collaborating with staff and student research assistants, as needed
Doctorate -Clinical Psychology or a related discipl
Applicants must have completed all requirements for their doctoral degree or must be able to demonstrate that they have made sufficient progress towards degree completion. Conferred degree required prior to starting the position.
Desired qualifications include substantive research interests in examining early intervention research for children with ASD, strong data analytic skills are desirable, and prior training in NDBI interventions and parent coaching is preferred. Experience training community providers is also desirable but not required.
