Essential Functions: National Institutes of Health/Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NIH/NICHD) in partnership with Wayne State University; Detroit, Michigan seeks qualified candidates for the faculty position to focus on Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The successful candidate will continue to maintain and develop new ideas for this nationally recognized research program.The individual chosen for this position will become part of a highly successful, fast-paced research group that focuses on clinical and basic research in perinatal medicine and related disciplines. The goal of this internationally recognized research is to develop novel diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative strategies to reduce adverse pregnancy outcome, infant mortality and handicap. Individuals will participate in research operations according to the PRB research protocols. Communicate with responsible physicians regarding permission to approach the subjects regarding research procedures and biological specimens that are required for the study. Make presentations regarding the clinical history and progress of the subjects enrolled in PRB research protocols to the research team during PRB research rounds. Participate and contribute to clinical and research discussions. Participate in preparing reports of research findings to the scientific community (e.g., abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts, and chapters) as well as additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Academic and Professor requirements include an M.D./Ph.D., who has completed training in obstetrics and gynecology, and has expertise in biomarker discovery in obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine with emphasis on preterm labor, clinical chorioamnionitis, intra-amniotic infection, preeclampsia, and other obstetrical syndromes. The candidate must be able to conduct clinical and translational research that integrates fetal biometry, Doppler ultrasound, intrapartum sonography, and biomarkers to predict adverse pregnancy outcomes. The candidate must use SPSS to analyze cross-sectional data, draft manuscripts, prepare presentations for scientific meetings, and teach.If MD degree "valid Michigan Medical License required.Rank commensurate with credentials
