The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level, in the area of Combustion, IC engines and Advanced Propulsion Systems. The appointment would be effective as early as August 2021.
We seek applicants with research and teaching interests relevant to internal combustion engines and hybrid vehicles including, but not limited to chemical kinetics, kinetic mechanism development, after-treatment systems, and modeling and simulations. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an externally funded research program that includes fundamental and/or applied research. The candidate should be able to teach and develop courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required, along with a recent history or strong potential of external funding and successful teaching abilities in related courses.

The Mechanical Engineering Department has over 20 full time faculty members who are dedicated to excellence in research, teaching and service. The department hosts three centers: Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Materials, Fastening and Joining Research Institute, and the Automotive Tribology Center, all of which are active in research.
