The Mission of the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Dental Hygiene Program is to prepare ethical, compassionate, and competent professionals through excellence in education, technical skill development, and rich clinical experiences. Rooted in strong professional values and adherence to codes of ethics, the program fosters lifelong learning, evidence-based practice, and community service. Graduates are prepared to serve as effective members of the dental health team, advancing the profession while providing person-centered care to meet the oral health needs of a diverse and changing world. As a part of the leadership team, this position serves as a leader in achieving the mission. The purpose of this position is to manage, plan and implement the Dental Hygiene program in support of the college and departmental mission and goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and licensure (maintain CODA accreditation compliance and documentation). Ensuring internal consistency, and graduate outcomes to meet placement expectations is included in the role of the program director.

This position includes leading in curriculum development and coordination, ongoing evaluation of admission criteria and processes, determining teaching assignments, and budget preparation and fiscal administration in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. The director position is also responsible for organizing instructional approaches to teaching courses, providing assistance in the selection of faculty, and selection/coordination of program specific external facilities and instruction.

The position includes providing professional leadership and support for teaching faculty; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty assignments; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility. Teaching is also a part of this job to ensure a full-time position in the designated field based upon the needs and/or student enrollments in the program. Monitoring and analyzing student attrition and retention data and working with other college leaders to develop initiatives that can be implemented to improve retention and completion rates of students is a key component of this position. The position has responsibilities year-round.

This position will be located at the Cambridge Campus.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

• Masters degree or higher and

• A graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation

Occupational Experience Requirement

• Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a dental hygienist.

Recency Requirement

• One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement

• Current Dental Hygienist License from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.

• A background in education and the professional experience necessary to understand and fulfill the program goals including administrative experience, instructional experience, and professional experience in clinical practice as a dental hygienist

Preferred Qualification 

• Teaching experience in Dental Hygiene

• Experience with program coordination

• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in a clinical and/or classroom setting.

• Diverse clinical experience.

• Communication skills are sufficient to effectively teach in a diverse multicultural and multiracial community.

• Experience in budgeting

• Experience in curriculum development, evaluation, and revision

Salary & Benefits

Full-time faculty salaries are based on an evaluation of education and related experience after a job offer has been accepted and currently range from $51,303 -$94,592.  Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, paid personal and sick leave, retirement savings plans, tuition waiver for employees and dependents, professional development funds, along with many optional benefit programs. 

** Please note, Initial Step Placement is established by the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) contract in which sets salary limitations to what a new faculty member is able to begin at. This will differ from the maximum salary range in this posting. For more information, please visit the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

About Anoka-Ramsey Community College

Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) is a multi-campus institution and a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. The Coon Rapids Campus is located on the banks of the Mississippi River twentymiles north of downtown Minneapolis. The Cambridge Campus is located on west Highway 95 on the Rum River in Cambridge. Beginning in 1965 with 600 students in a wing of Centennial High School in Circle Pines, Anoka-Ramsey Community College has grown considerably. In 1967 the college moved to the current Coon Rapids Campus of approximately 103 acres. The Cambridge Campus opened in 1978 and has shown consistent growth in enrollment and facilities. In addition, students may complete many ARCC college courses at convenient off-site locations throughout neighboring communities. During the 2008-2009 academic year, more than 11,000 students completed credit classes at the college.
